Sales Manager – US Market
Reports to: Senior Sales & Marketing Leadership
Compensation: $80,000-$90,000 base + Commission
Job Summary
The Sales Manager is a hands-on, sales-focused role responsible for driving room and group revenue across the US market. This includes generating leads, conducting on-site meetings, attending networking events, securing marketing opportunities, and building strong partner and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Territory & Market Development
- Maintain strong knowledge of the US territory (with focus on the Northeast, Los Angeles, Midwest, Texas, and Florida) and overall market production across business segments.
- Develop plans to retain existing business and grow revenue in markets with the highest potential.
- Identify and develop new group and leisure accounts.
- Maintain a top accounts list and update it on a quarterly basis.
- Implement an account coverage program for the assigned territory.
- Report market trends, competitive activity, and sales insights on an ongoing basis.
Group Sales
- Solicit group business and expand the group account base.
- Serve as lead project manager for group-focused meetings, partnerships, and industry events.
- Create and execute plans for the group market segment.
- Oversee conference service requests for booked groups.
- Prepare and distribute booking recaps and group resumes.
- Re-qualify past group business for future opportunities.
- Work closely with leadership on group inquiries, rates, and negotiations to ensure each piece of business is a strong fit.
Partner & Client Relationships
- Develop and maintain relationships with key luxury travel consortia and trade partners to grow market share.
- Conduct sales calls, client visits, and entertain major clients.
- Organize and accompany familiarization trips and on-property site inspections.
- Conduct web-based trainings for partner and non-partner accounts as needed.
- Function as an effective liaison between clients and on-property teams.
Marketing & Communications
- Assist with the development of editorial features and meet with media during sales calls or on-property visits.
- Secure marketing placements in partner and direct-to-consumer communications within the assigned territory.
- Create and execute communications to promote tactical offers, including group e-blasts targeting need dates.
- Brief reservations and coordinator teams on promotional offers and key accounts.
Reporting & Administration
- Submit a weekly sales report covering booking opportunities (confirmed and lost), sales activities, and marketing opportunities.
- Share trip schedules with leadership prior to departure and provide a recap report after each trip.
- Submit expense reports promptly and ensure travel spend aligns with the marketing plan budget.
- Maintain accurate contact, account, activity, and booking information in Salesforce.
- Complete monthly and quarterly group production reports by the 5th of the following month.
- Provide lead updates during weekly sales meetings and keep the group rooms control log current.
- Participate in prime selling time, targeting at least 20 prospecting calls per week.
- Assist with marketing plan components, including competitive set analysis and territory planning.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or marketing, or equivalent training and experience.
- Prior hotel or resort sales office experience, on-property preferred.
- Strong product knowledge and proven selling skills.
- Familiarity with yield management and forecasting principles.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong time management, organization, and decision-making abilities.
- Attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
Preferred
- Bilingual (second language a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Salesforce, Daylight, and other sales and marketing management software.
Work Environment
General office environment. Travel is required for client visits, sales calls, trade shows, and industry events.
